1999: Daddy’s today. I arrived back home at 5 and Granddad told mummy I had been a good boy and had fun. I had seen all my cousins and my Aunties too. When I got into the car to come home I had fallen asleep, mummy carried me indoors in my car seat, but when she took my hat and coat off I woke up. Big smiles, we were glad to see one another and had big hugs and big cups of tea too. I had had dinner at daddy’s but Pa had made mummy a chicken roast and so naturally I helped her eat it, especially the afters which was bread and butter pudding. Well there’s only one great dinner in the world and that’s the one on your mum’s plate! I asked mum, by pointing at the telly and saying ‘rar’ if we could put the Lion King on (she’s catching onto the English language pretty fast for a mother) and we sat and watched it – we even sang and danced to some of it too but Mum had to go out of the room when the daddy lion died though – she finds it far too sad! You’d think she’d be used to it by now – he dies fairly often after all.
2019: Valentines day. Zof came over tonight. I had a box of prezzies on the bed for her surrounded by rose petals and I cooked dinner. Such a romantic – unlike Mark who gave mum a card telling her to relax and not worry about the housework as it would still be there tomorrow! He did take her out to dinner though.
And Mum still has to go out of the room when the Daddy Lion dies in Lion King. She had a struggle a couple of years ago when we went to see the show in London though. I think she just shut her eyes!

1999: A bit of comfort in mums bed this morning with the quilt back on the mattress. Really need to stop this habit but neither of us wants to; it’s quite nice really, snuggling up together. Only problem is – this can’t really go on for the next 10 years. Woke up at 7.15, oops! Mummy really should get a plastic sheet for this bed. Off we set for a very, very mischievous day at Edons. It was reported to mummy that I tried to bite Jakes arm because he was holding onto my buggy. Later I was fighting over some Duplo and ended up throwing it in some kids face. They have narrowed it down to the Dolly mixtures – it’s great this – they think you’re such an angel that they blame it on the food! Are they mad? I was just feeling really naughty okay! Mum attempted to cut my hair tonight with new clippers, but I wriggled and complained and now have a new stripy, itsy bitsy hair do.
2019: Lots of “accidental hair cuts” over the years. I remember flying to Ireland once, having to wear a cap the whole time and going straight to a hair dressers from the airport. Wouldn’t let mum anywhere near my hair now – it has to be a perfect skin fade. Loved watching the mischief of rugby between Norwich and Holt under 12’s today – slipping and sliding in the rain and the mud and England muller France in the six nations in the dry and warm at home

1999: Got in with mum at 5.10 but didn’t settle very well as her bed is full of springs, and very uncomfortable – the things she does to try and put me off! Mum usually sleeps on top of two quilts, but they’re a bit wet right now for some reason. I eventually settled down and slept until 7.30. Mum had a shower whilst I played with a race track the neighbours had given us, but the cars don’t work too well and I tried to get mums attention but she was too busy putting her make up on. I decided to wipe my snotty nose on her bath towel and attention was got. Tonight we had to go to the laundrette to wash and dry the quilts and whilst they were doing we went to Asda shopping . Mum bought me my first Postman Pat video and for tea I had grapes, biscuits, dolly mixtures and crisps in the supermarket trolley and mum paid for lots of empty bags at the check out.
2019: Beds! I seem to get through them yearly. Have lovely comfy one now which will hopefully be moving with us soon to rented accommodation. Have opened joint bank account with Zof, mum has finally got back half of my air fares from my cancelled tours which will go into it and we have arranged a viewing on a cottage for next Saturday. Exciting times

1999: I think it must be mum’s funny time of month again, she’s not been herself the past day or two, and today was no better. Oh joy! Another week of impatience, shouting and not being able to do anything right. Mum had a shower whilst I drank my milk in her bed and when she came back in for cuddles realised that me and the bed were soaked for the second morning running. We were a bit behind today and a bit rushed to get out the door. I thought it was great fun to avoid the shoes and coat, but mum didn’t hold out too well with that game. We got to Edon’s just as they were about to leave for school, so I went straight in the buggy. When mummy went I screamed and sobbed, I think I saw a tear in mummy’s eye as she walked away. We went to the doctors tonight as I keep saying ‘I’m ‘ot’ and have a gooey nose and eyes. Now got nasal drops and antibiotics. We made dinner together, we had good fun, and I pricked the sausages and then pretended to peel a potato with my plastic knife and then threw it around the kitchen.
2019: Over to Zof’s tonight after work as going to set up joint account tomorrow and speak to estate agents about rental property. How things change. This time last year I was recovering from a fungal infection in my blood and sepsis. I planned to go away for a year to Australia, had my visa and my flights booked for May. Crohns had other ideas as I was rushed in to hospital a week before my flight and had to stay here to have surgery in July. And then I met Zof. We cannot travel currently as still not medically fit but there’s always time.

1999: Mummy’s going back to work today, after having been off sick, so it was on with the old routine. I did help her to have a shower though and even fetched a towel for her, such the little gentleman. Mum collected me from Edons after work and I helped her to cook the tea. We were having burgers, so I took them out the packet and started licking them but spoil sport mum took them off of me. My tummy’s fine thank you very much. We ate the cooked burgers with Thomas the Tank pasta shapes – with a slight variation – singed flavour. After dinner I dished up the ice cream, but as usual ate most of it out of the carton – I find it tastes better that way. Tonight mummy emptied her chest of drawers ready for painting, she was so engrossed she didn’t realise I’d managed to get the lid off the gloss paint and had loaded a brush until it was a tad too late. I think my carpet design is quite nice actually
2019: Mum has actually gone back to work today after 5 weeks off following redundancy. She came home and started dinner but I took over the pasta back as I prefer in unsinged! Clearly I was just copying mum with the painting as she gets it all over the carpet when she paints.
1999: We rang on Edons doorbell for 5 minutes this morning, eventually mummy had to ring her from her mobile to let us in (she’d been in the shower washing her hair!) I didn’t sleep today and when mum picked me up this evening I was feeling a bit hyper. Once home we had a cuddle and then mum fixed my new ‘crazy train’ together which kept me quiet for a while, but mum felt it a shame that the train wasn’t so quiet. Mum says that it’s at birthdays and Christmas time that mums really find out who their friends are. I think they’re all great – I get wicked presents! Dinner was a concoction of yesterday’s left overs, which mum seemed to enjoy, but I gave up after one mouthful and opted for a bowl of Jelly instead. Honestly in this house you eat like a king one day and a pauper the next. We watched a bit of telly tonight and I wanted everything in the adverts from going on a tram to eating ‘Donals’. Mum has said we will go to Donals tomorrow night for tea (YES!!! – a break from mums cooking)
2019: Feels like I’m on that crazy train at the moment. Horrible day at work and to cap it all someone nicked my stepdads drill out the back of the van as I was loading to go. He was cool about (even though he didn’t actually know Id borrowed it)- just kept saying he needed to drill holes! On he bright side Zof is home tonight, fish pie for tea which was again not burnt and London tomorrow!
1999: First events of the day were at 1.00 this morning. Mummy apparently heard shuffling through the baby monitor and came in to find me with one leg over the side of the bed and the other leg over the side of Agal’s cot – where’s mummy’s bedroom gone then? I was on my way to snuggle down. Eventually Agal’s cot was moved out and mummy slept on the floor mattress besides my newly found bed. And so started the long night of bed swapping – I kept waking up and getting into bed with mum, but each time I awoke I found her in the other bed, I was up and down all night. Mum and I went to Asda as Nanny and Pa are coming to dinner today. It was so embarrassing, mummy had to ring Nanny and say ‘I’m at the lamb counter, what do I want and how much?’ I’m sure she’s fibbing about her O’level cookery, she can just about cook fish fingers and chips and they’re frozen ones. And as for custard and gravy ……………they’re okay so long as you’re careful not to choke on the lumps. I had an afternoon nap and when mummy bought me back downstairs my party table was laid up again – how exciting. A few minutes later Nanny and Pa arrived for my family birthday dinner, but we had to wait another hour as mum hadn’t quite got the timing right. We eventually had dinner, after mum had roped Nanny into making the white sauce and Pa into carving the lamb! We sat down to eat, complete with party hats, and had a lovely dinner, but had to wait for half an hour afterwards for the pudding, which was in the oven (a frozen apple pie!) I had Jelly whilst I was waiting, half of which ended up on the floor, Pa got up to clean the mess and put his foot straight in it! I’m glad I’m not the only mucky pup around here.
2019: Mum actually managed to cook sausage and bacon pesto pasta. Nothing was burnt or dropped and the smoke alarm didn’t go off. It was much appreciated after a hard days graft. Mums due to start her new job Monday week so we will probably all be back to free for all and rushed dinners.
